The Process of Human Demise

Chicago, Illinois based groove metal band Repentance is set to release their highly anticipated sophomore album, The Process of Human Demise via Noble Demon on September 1st, 2023.
This album is fast and heavy, punching a tight groove sound that even boarders on thrash elements. It is reminiscent of some Pantera and Lamb of God vibes with cool vocals and is musically technical.
With Adam Gilley on vocals, Shaun Glass Guitar, Eric Burns Guitar, Eric Karol Bass and Brandan White on drums the band is tight and gives you that heavy groove experience to the max. The cover art was created by artist Colin Marks (Rain Song Design) who has worked with bands like Suicide Silence, Nevermore and Exodus.
The album starts with the track “Buried By Fear” which ignites the fury and leads into “Withered and Decayed” that features Fear Factory frontman Milo Silvestro and this song just rips with a massive drum beat and the vocals are killer producing a fast then a slower vocal range that blows the song up. This is one of my favourite tracks.
“Reborn” features another guest, Cory Beaulieu from Trivium and this song is amazing with killer guitar riffs and great background vocals screams. Just when you think by track four the assault may slow down “The Process of Human Demise” kicks it up a notch with vocal brutality matching with the tribal drum pounding. This is another one of my favourites.
Leading into “Empire” those drums kick things off and the guitars and bass just smash through this song. Track seven “Down In The Water” is the longest song just over four minutes. This track starts slow then takes off with a more thick sludgy sound that has a Pantera vibe to it.
“ A Future Untold” the fastest song on this album with an absolute killer drum beat that tears through you. The vocals again on this are so heavy. Both tracks “All the Misery” and “Light it up “ are so energetic and would be great additions to a live show.
“No Innocence” is another heavy track that has a great guitar groove to it, super catchy vocals with the bass and drums just thumping. “A Grave For the False Ones” is an instrumental that has a massive doom sound to it. I like where it’s placed on the album being the second last track where normally most bands put instrumentals as the first or last track. The musicianship of this track shows the quality of their work. The last song “Venom Inside” finishes the album off with an explosion of aggression that ends the journey off with a bang.
This is an album that from start to finish you can spin over and over again always picking up new parts that you are hearing for the first time.
Not only is this a groove metal work of art but I recommend all metal fans should check this out, there is something for everyone, it’s that awesome.
